WELCOME TO JUNE

As we all know, excitingly, social distancing measures are gradually easing, which means now we not only can use the amazing parks, playgrounds, outdoor communal gym equipment and skate parks, but we can also visit our favourite local restaurants, head to the zoo or visit an art gallery or museum.

As a community, it is very important that we support our local businesses this time, so we have put together a list of some of our favourite local spots that you can now visit from June 1st.

Please note however, that distancing measures are still in place, so we need to make sure that until restrictions are lifted even further, that we are all respecting our neighbours and community at large.

GRAB THE FAMILY AND HEAD OUT TO OUR VERY OWN ELISTON PARKS & PLAYGROUNDS

It’s the news we have all been waiting for! Our amazing Eliston parks and playgrounds, including the newly opened Oak Park, are officially open for all our residents to enjoy again.

Whether you want to shoot some hoops at the basketball courts, have a family BBQ, hang from the jungle jim, exercise or simply just relax on the grass and enjoy the winter sunshine, all areas are reopened for all our residents to enjoy.

Don’t forget to stick to the social distancing rules though until full restrictions have lifted.

We just can’t wait to see everyone out there again!

AKOONAH PARK MARKETS

When: Sunday, 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th June, 2020
Where: Akoonah Park, 2 Cardinia Street, Berwick
Cost: Free

Akoonah Park Markets are officially open to the public again every Sunday, however will be selling food items only at this stage.

Pop by to stock up on fresh fruits and veggies, or to have a delicious meal from one of the many stallholders offering a vast array of different food options.

You will find your favourite ‘foodies’ here, along with some other exciting new stalls to compliment the existing line up.

Of course, however, there will be social distancing and sanitising measures in place to keep everyone safe.

SPEND THE DAY EXPLORING NATURE AT WILSON BOTANIC PARK

When: From June 1st 2020
Where: Wilson Botanic Park, 668 Princess Highway, Berwick
Cost: Free

Wilson Botanic Park has reopened, and this means you can now come down to walk your dog, bring the family for a picnic or get back into your usual exercise routine in groups of 10 people or less.

Wilson Botanic Park features three lakes and houses over 1000 different plant species and wildlife. With so many areas to explore and enjoy, you will feel one with nature again in no time.

THE AUSTRALIAN BALLET – 2020 DIGITAL SEASON – GISELLE

When: 5:00PM – 7:00PM, Friday, 19th June 2020

Throughout its centuries of history, ballet has always offered the most wonderful escape from troubled times, and even though our theatres are closed, we want to offer you that gift.

The Australian Ballet’s ‘At Home with Ballet TV’ digital season will beam premium-quality productions right to your couch for free. They’ve hand-picked a selection of their most beloved and inspiring ballets, and each will have a limited two-week season on our streaming platform, Ballet TV.

June will feature a production of Giselle, a romantic ballet about a young girl who falls madly in love with a duke in disguise. When she realises his deception, the shock sends her mad and she dies. Raised from her grave by the vengeful Queen of the Wilis, she must forgive her lover and save him from death.

TAKE THE FAMILY OUT FOR A TASTY BRUNCH AT THE VOLT CAFE

One for the whole family to enjoy, the trendy Volt Café in Clyde is definitely the spot to head to for a weekend brunch.

The team have created a menu where naughty meets nice! Creating your naughty dishes with a twist – using gluten free and natural sweetener instead, there will be something to suit all dietary requirements at this little gem!

The Fairy Hot Cakes are mind-blowing and are the most commonly reviewed item– white chocolate ganache, pistachio & sugar free maple syrup. You would never be able to tell the difference!

And, if sweets not for you, The Volt Brekkie Board will keep you well entertained and full of goodness throughout the day.

GET AMONGST NATURE AT HILL TOP NATURE RESERVE

When: From June 1st
Where: Hill Top Nature Reserve, 1-19I Mannavue Blvd, Cranbourne North
Cost: Free

Hill Top Nature reserve is a place of Aboriginal significance. The reserve is located on the traditional land of the Kulin Nations.

The reserve offers a glimpse in to the type of vegetation that once covered the region of Cranbourne and surrounds prior to European Settlement.

With rolling hills of open grassy woodland and sandy heaths dominated by manna gums, wallaby and kangaroo grasses, this beautiful habitat is one to explore with the whole family.

PLAN A SPECIAL NIGHT OUT AT MULTI AWARD WINNING RESTAURANT & WINE BAR – O.MY

If you are dying for a beautiful night out with family, friends or simply just a special date night, then you cannot go past the Bertoncello Brothers award winning, two hatted restaurant, O.MY.
At O.MY, their food philosophy comes from respect for the earth, for what they grow and have a major commitment to sustainability and minimal waste.
They have established a large garden at a nearby farm in Cardinia to grow the produce for the restaurant which sees a daily menu change based on produce available and are passionate and dedicated to quality in their garden as well as the restaurant.
It is definitely one that is worth visiting if you are a serious foodie and are looking for a special evening out. The good is O.MY indeed!
