Believe it or not, we made it to the end of 2021, and it’s time to celebrate!

We Victorian’s certainly deserve the best festive season yet, and despite the fact that some of the bigger events and attractions have been postponed this December, our vibrant community still has some amazing events and attractions to enjoy. 

From sporting events and workshops, to art and theatre, there is something for all to enjoy. 

The team at Eliston would like to wish all of our current and future residents a very happy and safe festive season.

Melbourne Football Club Premiership Cup Tour 

When: 2nd December 2021

Time: 12:00pm – 5:00pm

Cost: Free

Where: Bunjil Place

Calling all Melbourne fans! 

After winning the drought-breaking 2021 premiership, the celebrations continue with the premiership cup tour taking place at Bunjil Place! 

This event will give you the chance to hold the Cup, take some pictures and you might even spy some Demons players popping in throughout the day! It is a great opportunity for the local community to show their support for the Demons who are Casey’s community-affiliated club. 

Bookings are encouraged to avoid disappointment and it will run as a series of 30 minute sessions. Don’t forget to wear your club colours and merchandise, and share your photos using the social media cup tour hashtag!

Art Bites: Postmodernism/ Post Colonialism 

When: Sunday, 5th December 2021
Where: Bunjil Place Gallery

Bunjil Place’s monthly Art Bites is back, with an introduction to Post Modernism and Post Colonialism. 

Join Associate Professor Carolyn Barnes for an art program that provides insight into art terminology and creative art practice. As academic director of research training at Swinburne Design, Barnes teaches research methods for design and researches co-design practices. Together you will unpack key ideas using works of art in Diaspora, Psyche – which recently displayed at Bunjil Place Gallery, and more. 

After the talk, you are invited to Bunjil Place Cafe for an afternoon tea prepared exclusively to coincide with Art bites. You can enjoy warm scones with wattleseed and vanilla Chantilly cream, Yarra Valley strawberry jam and a dusting of Rosella native fruit powder.

Jewellery Making Workshop 

Where: Bunjil Place 

When: Wednesday, 8th December 

Time: 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Get your creative juices flowing in a relaxed evening of jewellery making. 

Baluk Arts, an urban Aboriginal community arts centre, supports artistic, career and audience development for visual arts in Victoria. Sammy Trist, an artist from Baluk Arts is coming to Bunjil Place on Wednesday evening to lead a string necklace making workshop. She uses Mookaite Jasper Crystal, only found in Western Australia, for its healing properties that make it popular around the world. 

Go home with a unique piece of jewelry and the skills to create string necklaces for family and friends. 

Your ticket includes all materials for your workshop and light refreshments.

Celebrating Me: Online Art Workshop – Flower Crown

Enjoy a hands-on art marking workshop from the comfort of your own home!

Learn step by step how to create a flower crown, and celebrate mother nature’s vibrant, resilient and ever-changing force. This incredible workshop will see artist Belle Formica lead participants in an exploration of her creative practice. As a multidisciplinary artist, Belle explores the relationship between creativity, connection to nature and post-traumatic growth through her therapeutic use of artmaking. She encourages connectivity between the inner and outer world, exploration of emotions and cultivating feelings of calm and joy. 

This workshop will require you to mindfully collect materials and plants from your local area, to be completely compostable and environmentally friendly.

Daytime Music Theatre: A Very Merry Variety Christmas Special

Get into the true spirit of Christmas, at the Daytime Music Theatres Very Merry Christmas Special. 

Reimagine wonderful traditional Christmas Carols at this magical production led by Chris McKenna as compere, with performances by tenor Roy Best and award-winning singer and actress Michelle Fitzmaurice, who will have you up on your feet singing along to all your festive favourites.

Saturday Movie Night: Last Christmas

With Christmas just around the corner, there is no better way to get into the spirit with some carols and a festive Christmas movie. 

The final film in Bunjil Place’s Saturday Night Christmas Movie series, will be supported by Indie Duo, who will perform a delightful set of contemporary Christmas songs as pre-film entertainment. 

After the carols, settle in for Last Christmas, a family friendly, yuletide romance movie, that will bring out the smiles in all. Your ticket includes a Christmas treat upon arrival, and you have the opportunity to enhance your evening with a variety of food options available to pre-order at the time of booking. Aussie Cricket League

Calling all cricket lovers! 

The Aussie Cricket League (ACL) is headed to Casey fields for 4 days packed with sporting entertainment. 

ACL, which is exclusively supported by Victorian Cricket, represents the most ambitious and transformational venture ever undertaken in the Australian cricket landscape. Focused on staging the highest quality Twenty20 cricket for Australian cricket fans and players, this 4 day event will feature top players within Australia, and provide a stage for domestic cricketers to showcase their talents to a global audience.

This year will feature 4 teams from the community representing India, Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

It is guaranteed to be a fun day out for all Australian cricket fans and players!
