Happy New Year!

We cannot believe it’s the new year already, but we’re sure that everyone is looking forward to a really exciting year ahead. 

And, to kick off the new year with a bang, we have compiled a list of some fantastic events and activities to enjoy with the whole family, and keep the little ones busy during the school holidays.

We hope you enjoy our wrap up for the month. 

Berwick Building Blocks

Where: Federation University, Berwick Campus 100 Clyde Road, Berwick
When: 5th – 12th January
Time: Various Times

Calling all mini engineers, future designers and junior construction workers! 

Join others at Berwick Building Blocks for a free interactive session, where other children aged 3 – 7 can dress up and learn about what goes into large scale building projects, by using blocks of their own to create a rail bridge and replication of the Clyde Road underpass. 

During each 45 minute session, there will be other activities that will see the kids make their own rock planters that they can take home and work through activity books focused on the design of the new underpass, environmental impacts and safety. 

A perfect educational school holiday activity for the kids to enjoy.

Superheroes Picnic 

When: 12nd January 2022

Time: 11:00am – 1:00pm

Cost: From $2.00

Where: Old Cheese Factory 

Who doesn’t love to dress up as a superhero?! 

Well, the Old Cheese Factory is putting on an event where you can dress up as your favourite superhero at this fun and activity-filled day out, which will have plenty of pop-up activities for all ages, such as arts and crafts, as well as a self guided superhero search and rescue adventure through the gardens.

There will also be food trucks, live performances and much more entertainment throughout the day. 

The event is recommended for children aged 2 – 10 and is free of charge for any over that age!

Rice Dumpling Party 2021

Where: Wantirna Primary School, Wantirna

When: Sunday, 30th January 2022

Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Have you ever wanted to know how to make dumplings and see the experts compete for the title of best dumpling wrapper? 

This very unique event is part of the belated annual Dragon Boat Community Festival, which sees communities come together for the enjoyment of food and entertainment. Watch the experts compete as they vie for the title of best dumpling wrapper, or even register to participate in one of the Rice Dumpling Wrapping Competitions yourself in either the junior or adult categories. 

However, for those who would like to leave the wrapping to the experts and focus more on the tasting, you can do that too.

Knit & Natter 

Where: Cranbourne West Community Hub and Online

Calling both seasoned and amateur knitters for this fantastic weekly event! 

If you have always wanted to learn how to knit, or join a group who share your knitting passion, then join this great event online or at the community hub, where you can meet new friends and knit and natter.

Yoga In The Park

Where: Casey Central Park

When: Every Saturday Morning

Time: 9:00am – 10:00am

Yoga in the Park sessions are returning  to Casey Central Park! This free yoga class is open for those at every level and with any experience. 

Not only does yoga improve strength, balance and flexibility, it is also known to enhance your mental wellbeing. In this class, you will be taken through rhythmic sequence postures, static postures and breathing exercises. 

Meet like-minded people, create a mindful routine for yourself and add this to your new year’s resolution list!
