Welcome to June!

It’s officially winter, so it’s time to rug up and get cosy with the best outdoor experiences, local craft activities and performances this season has to offer in our thriving local community.

From experiencing spectacular light displays at dusk at Bunjil Place and Wilson Botanic Gardens, to designing your own tote bag, and watching a spectacular performance by Windmill Theatre Company, there is something for everyone to enjoy this month.

Lost Dogs’ Disco

When: 24th June – 16th July
Time: 10am – 10pm Daily
Where: Bunjil Place Plaza
Cost: Free

Calling all dog lovers! Join in on the furry frenzy this winter at Bunjil Place with an amazing light installation featuring 16 beautiful sculptures of pooches, as part of the Winter Arts Festival! Displayed in all their familiar poses such as sitting, curling up, and laying down, the installation is inspired by the popular breeds of poodles, bull terriers and dachshunds.

As you journey through the maze of lights, dogs light up in different colours while experiential music plays of dogs barking to express their excitement of the newcomers to the dog disco.

And if that wasn’t enough, boogie down at the dog disco as you immerse yourself in the colourful display of lights and sound inspired by our most celebrated best friends of all shapes and sizes.

Botanic by Night
When: 23rd June – 1st July
Time: 5pm-8.30pm (Hourly Shows)
Where: 668 Princes Highway, Berwick, Vic 3806
Cost: Free

Enjoy a spectacular laser light show at Wilson Botanic Park and immerse yourself in a colourful display as you walk around Anniversary Lake.

Visit the amphitheatre for the main event with exciting light installations on display and get warm with delicious winter treats on offer from local vendors.

Wednesday Night Workshop: Personalised Tote Bags

When: Wednesday, 7th June
Where: Boon Wurrung Wurundjeri Meeting Room, Bunjil Place, 2 Patrick NE Dr, Narre Warren
Time: 7.00pm-9.00pm
Cost: $30.00

Get creative and crafty at this fun Wednesday Night Workshop, where you will design your very own tote bag. Facilitated by local Artist, Yaz Gaté, you will also have the opportunity to learn more about contemporary Australian artists as you create your masterpiece.

Join in alone or round up some friends, enjoy a drink and nibble on some tasty treats while mingling with other fellow creatives.

This is an 18+ workshop.

Running with the celebratory theme of pooches this month, Bunjil Place is featuring some of our favourite dog flicks.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 is an adorable movie for kids and adults, exploring the life of a pack of furry friends and the beautiful bond between their human owners. Join Max, Gidget and Snowball and new friends on another adventure pushing them to new heights.

Windmill Theatre Company: Seussical

Brought to you by the world renowned Windmill Theatre Company, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza, lovingly bringing to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, The Sour Kangaroo Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo.
The musical is brought to life by the one and only Cat in the Hat as he navigates the audience through a wonderful journey of ups and downs of Seuss’s much loved characters.
A must see production for all ages.

Flamingo Design Market

Enjoy a Sunday strolling through Langwarrin Hall community market, a boutique design market showcasing beautiful hand crafted goods by local businesses.

There will be plenty of stallholders showcasing everything from jewelry, handmade soaps and clothing, to ceramics, succulents and more. Head down to find a special gift or a self indulgent treat, there will be something for everyone.
