What’s On In Clyde – February 2020

Hello February!

Well the kids may be back at school and there may be some post-holiday blues still hanging around, however February is packed with a whole lot of summer fun for the whole family in our amazing community.

From festivals, circus acts, theatre and dance to sport, science, live music and comedy, you will definitely find something to suit all your loved ones and friends in this wrap up of our favourite events for the month.

However, our most exciting news for the month is that we will be hosting a huge launch event to celebrate the opening of our new Display Village on February 29th with footy legend Brendan Fevola and the Fox team. So, make sure you bring the whole family down for a fun day out.

SUMMER OF FOOTY AT CASEY FIELDS – MFC AFLW OPEN TRAINING AND KIDS CLINIC

When: From 9:30AM, Saturday, 1st February 2020

Where: Casey Fields, 160 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne

Cost: Free Entry

In celebration of the upcoming AFL Women’s 2020 season, the Melbourne Football Club will be hosting their AFLW Junior Clinic at their home ground, Casey Fields.

The women’s team will also participate in an open training session prior to the clinic from 9.30 am – 10.30 am! What a perfect way to start the season ahead of their Round 1 match the following Saturday against North Melbourne at Casey Fields.

Not only will you learn some new handy footy tricks firsthand from Melbourne’s AFLW and VFLW teams, you will have a whole lot of footy FUN.

Whether you’re a footy player or you’ve never played before, everyone aged four to 15 years is welcome.

Following the clinic there will also be an opportunity to snap some signatures and a photo with your favourite player.

Everyone who registers will receive a free MFC gift on arrival and go in the draw to WIN an exclusive Melbourne game day AFLW experience.

 It’s a globe-trotting month in the Plaza with four amazing, international flicks playing on the BIG Screen. You can travel the world without leaving your backyard!

Be one of the first 100 people at each session to receive a free choc top and other goodies tailored to each flick as you indulge in some great entertainment.

Oh, and there’ll be an opportunity to buy non-alcoholic drinks on the night as well.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE AT THE PARK – TWICE SHY

When: 6:00PM – 9:00PM, Saturday, 8th February, 2020

Where: Wilson Botanic Park, 668 Princess Highway, Berwick

Cost: $5 Donation to volunteers at the gate

There will be singing, swaying and live music playing as Saturday Night Live returns to Wilson Botanic Park Berwick for the popular Live Music series.

Pack a picnic, a blanket or some chairs, and gather your family and friends for a fun night out in the beautiful surroundings as you enjoy live music by the lake.

The lead performers of the evening will be Twice Shy – a dynamic duo (Rachel and Josh) with six strings and two voices that will remind you how much you love music and get your feet tapping with their songs.  They play music all the way from the 60’s to now and promise to make your night relaxed and fun.

MULTICULTURAL PONGAL HARVEST FESTIVAL

When: 10:00AM -5:00PM, Sunday, 9th February 2020

Where: Glasscocks Road Playground, Narre Warren

Valluvar Foundation with Australian Tamil Academy presents the 2020 Harvest Festival, supported by the City of Casey and the Victorian Multicultural Commission.

Valluvar Foundation is a charitable, not-for-profit organisation founded with the intention to serve the ethnic community by encouraging, preserving and facilitating education in their Mother Tongue, Culture (arts, dance & music) and Heritage.

The Harvest Festival (Pongal) is an important aspect of Tamil culture and tradition where we celebrate Nature (the land, the animals, water and people) and the Cycle of Life.

Head on down with the family for an action packed day of activities, market stalls, food stalls, raffles, games such as Uri Adi (piñata), lemon & spoon race, running races, sack race, tug of war (kids, women, men), Kabadi (team of minimum six – email us with your team details, giant chess and carnival games.

Not to mention the live entertainment including stage performances by community artists demonstrating their harvest traditions, and an animal farm, rides and more.

This fantastic harvest festival welcomes everyone to experience a part of the culture and traditions.

CASEY NIGHT MARKET

The Night Market returns again this month, packed with fun and goodies for all to enjoy. This family friendly event will feature local market stall holders, face painting, buskers and all you need for a fun night out.

So, come along for a bite to eat at one of the Centre’s amazing food retailers and browse all night long, whilst enjoying live music from buskers.

Summer Sounds returns in 2020 for an action packed day of food, beverages and some of the best musical acts in town. Kick back and enjoy the vibes on the comfy bean bags or dance up a storm with some of the best homegrown talent around.

Grab a drink at the bar and treat yourself to some delicious food, but don’t get too comfortable…this event kicks up a notch after 7.00 pm.

Yes, Summer Sounds will be going to another level this year with DJ JAMO and DJ Mighty Mingo serving up great beats that are sure to keep the party going all day.

For the more ‘traditional’ music acts, enjoy the breathtaking vocals of MAYA as she brings her fusion of RnB, soul and electronic jazz to life, XANI, who is set to light up the night with her (improv) violin loopin’ skills and Jazz Party, who will come roaring back into the Plaza with their rock n’ roll sound. It’s going to be fun!

The Glitter Tribe will be setting up camp too, so you can get into the spirit of things with stunning glitter choices plus face and body jewels – perfect for selfies.

LITTLE SPARKS SCIENCE LAB

Calling all little sparks…Enter the science lab and join other budding scientists in conducting experiments and hands-on activities. A fun event for your little ones to enjoy, learn and meet new friends.

Although this is a free event, you must register via your child’s attendance via HERE.

 

ELISTON DISPLAY VILLAGE LAUNCH EVENT

When: 11:00AM -3:00PM, Saturday, 29th February 2020

Where: 16-22 Waterman Drive, Clyde

 It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for! National Pacific Properties are excited to announce that it will be hosting a huge event to celebrate the launch of its new Eliston Display Village and also the Oak Park.

Join footy legend Brendan Fevola and the Fox team and come on down for an exciting day out with friends and family.

We will have plenty of fun activities for the kids including face painting, reptile encounters, a jumping castle and an animal farm, plus there will be food trucks and a treasure hunt through the Eliston display homes.

This event is one you won’t want to miss.
