Happy New Year To Our Eliston Neighbours!

Summer is officially here, the kids are on school holidays and our fabulous community is turning up the heat with a stack of events to keep us all occupied and happy this January.

Whether you’re interested in outdoor events, festivals, arts and crafts or science….or just lazy afternoons enjoying music in the park, you will find something to suit all the family in this wrap up of our favourite events for the month.

KIDS NIGHT OUT

When: 5:00PM, Friday 3rd January 2020
Where: Cranbourne Turf Club, Grant Street, Cranbourne
Cost: Free

Experience Kids Night Out under the stars at Cranbourne Turf Club on Friday 3rd of January.
Kids Night Out features four amazing hours of FREE kids activities and much, much, more as our friends from Kelly Sport offer the ultimate night of Summer School Holidays action for families and children of all ages.

Get up close and personal with jockey’s and trainers whilst enjoying all of the racing action right from the mounting yard to the winning post at your leisure.

Parking is free and tiered dining packages are available with stylish and panoramic views of the racetrack – a great way to relax and unwind after a busy week.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE AT THE PARK – ANDREW WILLIAMS

When: 6:00PM – 9:00PM, Saturday, 4th January 2020
Where: Wilson Botanic Park, 668 Princess Highway, Berwick
Cost: $5 Donation to volunteers at the gate

There will be singing, swaying and live music playing as Saturday Night Live returns to Wilson Botanic Park Berwick for the popular Live Music series.

Pack a picnic, a blanket or some chairs, and gather your family and friends for a fun night out in the beautiful surroundings as you enjoy live music by the lake.

The lead performer of the evening will be Andrew Williams, who has an extensive career in the entertainment industry, predominately as a singer, songwriter and musician, and is known to TV audiences for his acting roles in shows including Melrose Place, E-Street and Neighbours.

OPERATION OUCH LIVE

That’s right, TV’s favourite doctors are coming to Bunjil Place these summer school holidays with a brand new show, following two sell-out Australian tours, and a smash hit season in London’s West End.

The doctors explore the fascinating world of biology with all-new crazy experiments and amazing facts. They’ll show you the incredible things your body can do and share the best bits from the award-winning TV show, Operation Ouch!

Why do new challenges and adventures sometimes feel scary? What exactly happens to the food you eat? How do your eyes work? All these questions and more will be answered when Dr Chris and Dr Xand bring this brilliant show to our community this summer … all in the name of medical science!

CASEY NIGHT MARKET

The Night Market returns again this month, packed with fun and goodies for all to enjoy.

This family friendly event will feature local market stall holders, face painting, buskers and all you need for a fun night out.

So, come along for a bite to eat at one of the Centre’s amazing food retailers and browse all night long, whilst enjoying live music from buskers.

LIGHTS…..CAMERA….. MUSIC!

SCHOOL HOLIDAY CRAFT

When: 11:00AM – 2:00PM, Monday 20th January – Friday, 24th January 2020

Join in a week of fun free craft workshops inspired by ‘Home/Land: Project Another Country’.

Is your idea of home big or small, round or square? Let your imagination run wild and have fun in the process making cool stuff out of cardboard outdoors in the Plaza from 11.00 am – 2.00 pm.

All you need to bring is your CAN DO attitude and love of craft. All materials will be supplied so you can make the following:

Cardboard foliage
Monday 20 January – Tuesday 21 January
Spend time creating trees, plants and flowers to be added to the cardboard houses in our Gallery.

Cardboard badges
Wednesday 22 January – Thursday 23 January
Use cutting and folding techniques to create a badge for you to take home and keep.

Cardboard cubby house
Friday 24 January
Join in the fun and lend a helping hand as we build a cubby house out of cardboard.

AUSTRALIA DAY 2020 FAMILY DAY

When: 11:00AM – 4:00PM, Sunday, January 26th 2020
Where: Balla Balla Community Centre, 3/65 Berwick – Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne

Australia Day is the ideal opportunity to come together and celebrate what’s great about being Australian, and this free event is where Casey residents can join in the festivities celebrating our rich and diverse cultural heritage.

There will be a food and drinks, traditional music and dances, kids animal farm, art and crafts, face and henna painting, free children’s activities and more.

So, head on down to experience the fun of being an Aussie in our local community!

AUSTRALIA DAY FESTIVAL

When: 3:00PM – 9:30PM, Sunday, January 26th 2020
Where: Dandenong Park, Pultney Street, Dandenong

If you don’t mind a short drive and are looking to truly embrace that Australia Day festival vibe, then join in the fun with 11,000 community members at the award-winning Australia Day Festival in Dandenong.

With residents from more than 150 different nations, Australia Day means different things to different people. Our local community sees this day as a chance to celebrate what connects us – a celebration of our similarities and our differences.

The Australia Day Festival will take place in Dandenong Park and acknowledges the Traditional Owners of this land and honours them in the festivities. The event will include the traditional Welcome to Country and a sacred Smoking Ceremony.

There will be two stages of live entertainment which will be the highlight of the festival, in addition to exciting rides, and food and market stalls that will be selling a wide array of food and merchandise. Not to mention, there will be loads of free family activities including backyard sports, workshops, games and storytelling.

The celebrations will culminate with a spectacular fireworks display that will engulf the sky after dark.

LEGO CLUB

Build, play and learn at LEGO Clubs across Casey Cardinia Libraries.
Playing with Lego can be beneficial to your child’s development – and Lego Club at Casey Cardinia Libraries is a great place for them to come and try it for FREE!

This fun club teaches children about teamwork, creativity, fine motor skills and how to problem solve, allowing them to construct imaginative builds, meet other LEGO lovers and foster an enthusiasm for problem solving and creative thinking.

LEGO is supplied, although we welcome donations in LEGO form.
Suitable for children in Prep to grade 6.
