Welcome To October!

Eliston residents, what a wonderful month of events our community has in store for you.
From festivals and motoring events, to theatre performances and exhibitions, there are plenty of fun and exciting things to get up to this month with the whole family.

And don’t forget Halloween! We just cannot wait to see all the exciting and spooky costumes around the estate, so please tag us in your pics.
Here is a round up of our favourite events for the month.

KATINA LUMINARIUM – ARCHITECTS OF AIR

When: 11:00AM – 4:00PM, Tuesday, October 1st – Sunday, October 6th 2019
Where: Bunjil Place, 2 Patrick Northeast Drive, Narre Warren
Cost: Adults $15, Children $10 (Children under 3 years free)

Lose yourself in a labyrinth of colour, shapes, and winding tunnels. A mesmerising experience for kids and adults alike!

More than 3 million people in over 40 countries have enjoyed the Alan Parkinson’s architectural installations. Now it’s your turn.
With a stunning kaleidoscope of colours, shapes and subtle sounds, be prepared for an awe-inspiring experience like no other. As you step inside the airlock structure of the Katena Luminarium, you’ll be moved by a sense of wonder at the beauty of light and colour as the daylight shines through. Complimented with a soundscape to enhance your experience, you’ll be transported to another world.

Find yourself a space to indulge your senses or explore every nook and cranny with a map. The choice is yours!
Suitable for all ages. Children under 16 years will only be admitted accompanied by an adult (1 adult for 4 children).
Advance ticket holders must arrive 10 minutes before the time indicated on the ticket and will have priority access up to 30 minutes from the time indicated on the ticket. A small queue should still be expected.

POSSUM MAGIC ON STAGE

When: 10:30AM and 12:30PM, Tuesday, 8th October
Where: Bunjil Place, 2 Patrick Northeast Drive, Narre Warren
Cost: $16 (children under 2 are free)

Mem Fox’s classic story which many of us grew up with is being brought to life in an enchanting live stage performance the kids will love by the extraordinary team at Monkey Baa.
If you are unfamiliar with the story, Grandma Poss loves making magic. She makes wombats blue and kookaburras pink. She makes dingoes smile and emus shrink. But one day, when danger arrives, Grandma uses her most magical spell to make Hush invisible.

Hush has many wonderful adventures, but being invisible isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and Hush longs to see herself again. Possum Magic takes us on a whimsical journey to cities around Australia to find the food that makes Hush visible again.

Possum Magic has captivated and enchanted readers for generations and now this magical, unforgettable new production will mesmerise children and adults alike.

THE CASEY FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL

When: 2:00PM – 8:00PM, Saturday, 12th October 2019
Where: Old Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Road, Berwick
Cost: $10 Adults, $5 Children over 15, Free for Children under 15

The Casey Food & Wine Festival brings a range of local and regional producers, wineries, breweries, cider houses, gourmet food, cheese and demonstrations to the Old Cheese Factory. Stalls will include gourmet products, alcohol suppliers, cheese and finish off with some dessert and cake suppliers.

Take your taste buds on a journey through the many stalls or visit the workshops and demonstrations during the festival.

Tickets on sale now for pre-purchase or available at the gate.


CASEY NIGHT MARKET AND FOOD TRUCKS

When: 6:00PM – 9:00PM, Friday, 18th October 2019
Where: Selandra Community Hub, 7-9 Selandra Boulevard, Clyde North
Cost: Free

The Night Market returns to Selandra Rise!!

Enjoy all the favourites things the people of the City of Casey and beyond have come to love at this fantastic indoor & outdoor market.

Expect food trucks & marquees, an outdoor bar, live music, children’s entertainment & activities.

Entry to the indoor market requires a Gold Coin Donation to cancer research.

SOUTH EAST VICTORIA FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS – DIWALI

When: 12:00PM – 9:00PM, Saturday 26th October 2019
Where: Bunjil Place, 2 Patrick Northeast Drive, Narre Warren
Cost: Free

Celebrate Diwali at the South East Victoria Festival of Lights event and experience the traditional and contemporary cultural feast of India through soul-stirring music, the theatre and drama of Indian cinema, breathtaking dance performances, craft and yoga/meditation workshops and authentic Indian street food.

Bustling with vendors serving flavours from all over India, and humming with classical and Bollywood beats, the Festival will have all the colour and sounds of India. Pick up an Indian handicraft, or get some henna applied.

Join in on the free cultural activities from sari-tying to Bollywood dancing and all the Diwali food you can think of. This event gives the wider community an opportunity to come along and celebrate the Festival of Lights – Diwali!

The night will conclude with a spectacular, colourful fireworks display for all to be enjoyed.

CRANBOURNE GP RUN

When: From 8:00AM, Saturday, 26th October 2019
Where: Corner of High Street & Sladen Street, Cranbourne
Cost: Free

The roar of motorcycles and a sea of colour and chrome will fill the streets of Cranbourne on Saturday 26 October at the Cranbourne GP Run.
The City of Casey and the Victorian Motorcycle Council is proud to host one of the largest and most exciting events in Victoria, as thousands of motorcyclists gather in Cranbourne to travel en-masse to Phillip Island for the 2019 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

From 8:00am on the day, there will be plenty of entertainment to keep the whole family enthralled with a variety of children’s activities.
At 10:00am, the pace picks up for the highlight of the day when a celebrity will wave-off thousands of gathered motorcyclists on their journey.

HALLOWEEN AT THE OLD CHEESE FACTORY

When: 4:00PM – 9:00PM, Thursday, October 31st 2019
Where: Old Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Road, Berwick
Cost: Free

Be spooked this Halloween at one of City of Casey’s oldest sites.

Witches, zombies, ghosts and fairies alike are all invited to join in at this Spooktacular event.

The Old Cheese Factory Berwick will transform into a spooky playground for this year’s Halloween Trick or Treat Spectacular, where kids can participate in a trick or treat scavenger hunt. There will also be activities, entertainment, roving characters and music for the whole family.

Everyone is encouraged to come dressed up in their spookiest gear as everything becomes a spookier as the sun goes down.
