Welcome To Spring!

So, we’ve all experienced another Melbourne winter and we are happy to say that we are ready to welcome spring, shed our layers and head outdoors for some quality time in the sun.

We have put together a list of some of our favourite local festivities and events for the month for the whole family, but the most important event by far is Father’s Day, so we would like to wish all the special dads out there an amazing day!

SCHOOLS ON STAGE 2019

When: 7:30-10:30PM, Thursday, 5th September
Where: Bunjil Place, 2 Patrick Northeast Drive, Narre Warren
Cost: $10-25

Get ready for a spectacular evening of entertainment at the ninth annual Schools on Stage event, which celebrates the performing arts talents of Casey’s young people, whilst also encouraging them to take part in extra-curricular activities to strengthen their connection to the school community, make new friends and build important skills.

More than 200 young performers are set to take to the stage with the backing of a live orchestra, hosted by one of Australia’s most versatile and much-loved entertainers – Tim Campbell!

For the audience, the event is an entertaining showcase of shows and music. Performances are accompanied by an orchestra who bring the music to life, and students strive to do their best as they perform everything from classic show tunes or family favourites, to original songs or pop hits of the past decades. The stage is set for a musical extravaganza that will entertain like no other. Which local school will be crowned Schools on Stage champion in 2019?

CASEY GARDEN EXPO

When: 9:00AM – 3:00PM, Saturday, 7th September
Where: Wilson Botanic Park, 668 Princes Highway, Berwick
Cost: Free

Give your green thumb a workout this spring when Wilson Botanic Park Berwick and the City of Casey host the Casey Garden Expo.The expo is designed to deliver inspirational ideas to residents looking to establish their own small gardens in the growth corridors within the City of Casey.

Visitors will enjoy sustainable living ideas, plants available for sale, garden décor, kids activities, entertainment by Andrew Williams and food trucks will be available on the day.Kids activities will keep the little ones busy while you let your imagination run wild.

So head on down and get to know the latest garden trends, check out some stunning garden décor and get involved in the gardening presentations on the day.

KINKY BOOTS THE MUSICAL

When: 6:30 – 9:00PM, Saturday, 7th September
Where: Cranbourne Community Theatre, Brunt Street, Cranbourne
Cost: $45

With music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, “Kinky Boots” is based on the 2005 British film and inspired by true events. The musical tells the story of Charlie Price who having inherited a shoe factory from his father, forms an unlikely partnership with cabaret performer and drag queen Lola to produce a line of high-heeled boots to save the business. In the process, Charlie and Lola discover that they are not so different after all.

SPRING FESTIVAL – BERWICK WATERS

When: 10:00am – 1:00pm, Saturday, 7th September
Where: Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten, 70s Waterways Drive, Cranbourne North
Cost: Free

Aspire Early Education are ready to welcome spring and are hosting a fun filled day to celebrate the change of season.

Local community families are invited to pop on their best springtime outfit and join in for a day FULL of activities including Little Sports Heroes, Bollywood Dancing, Spring Recipe Tasting, Face Painting and the list goes on!

VEGAN FESTIVAL MARKET

When: 10:00am – 3:00pm, Sunday, 22nd September
Where: Bunjil Place, 2 Patrick Northeast Drive, Narre Warren
Cost: Free

The Mermaid Makers BIG Vegan Market will be at beautiful Bunjil Place, Narre Warren (right near Fountain Gate).

Watch as this precinct comes to life as a festival laden with vegan food, fashion, art, homewares, health, beauty, lifestyle and more.

There will also be live music, food trucks and more to delight your senses at every turn.

So head on down with the whole family and fur babies (on-leash) for a spectacular day of entertainment.

Please remember to bring your own shopping bags.

Free entry and parking for all.

MUSEUMS VICTORIA PRESENTS DINOSAURS AND FOSSILS

When: 10:15am – 11:15am, Monday 23rd September
Where: Cranbourne Library, 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East
Cost: Free

Dinosaurs have long been the subject of fascination for children. Through stories and activities, this program from Museums Victoria, will introduce to children how palaeontologists have come to understand dinosaurs through finding and studying fossils.

Children will be able to talk about and touch real dinosaur fossils from the Museum Victoria collection, learn about ancient time periods, see life-size replicas of dinosaur skulls, feet and legs, and classify their favourite prehistoric creatures as herbivores or carnivores.

PLANTING MAGIC ‘JACK IN THE BEANSTALK’ BEANS

When: 11:00am-12:00pm, Wednesday, 25th September
Where: Cranbourne Library, 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East
Cost: Free

Come and listen to the story of Jack in the Beanstalk and plant your own Magic Beans to take home and look after.

For children aged 3 to 8 years.

GARBA NIGHT CASEY STADIUM
When: 7pm – Midnight, Friday, 27th September 2019
Where: Casey Stadium, New Holland Drive
Cost: Free

Put on your dancing shoes, grab your family and friends and get ready for the amazing Garba Season 2019 in the City Of Casey, running its successful 4th Year of the Navratri Festival. 🙏

Enjoy fantastic performances and a live orchestra.
